Istanbul, Turkey – Zahran Alloush, the leader of the al-Islam Army (Jaish al-Islam), issued a decision to execute the pro-Assad military pilots held by the group in northeastern Syria.

Alloush justified the execution as a response to the “massacre” committed by the pro-regime military forces on Thursday in Eastern Ghouta in the countryside of Damascus.

The Syrian regime’s warplanes bombed the city of Duma in the Eastern Ghouta, causing the death of at least 80 civilians and wounding hundreds others on Thursday.

Alloush also warned Syrian pilots who are still in the service of the regime that they should “take a lesson” from all pilots captured by the opposition forces, and that they will be punished for their crimes sooner or later.

Noteworthy, the al-Islam Army rebel group had captured earlier in July several military pilots loyal to the Syrian regime and held them in detention waiting for an agreement of prisoners exchange with the regime, but Thursday’s attacks which claimed lives of dozens of civilians apparently led Zahran Alloush to make the decision to execute the captured pilots. However, the group hasn’t announced their timetable yet for executing the pilots.
