Aleppo, Syria – On Saturday, rebels of al-Nusra Front (Jabhat al-Nusra), Syrian branch of al-Qaeda, condemned the U.S.-led strikes on Syria.

The U.S.-led international coalition’s air forces targeted in the last few days strongholds of al-Nusra, as well as headquarters of militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIL), killing and injuring dozens of fighters.

Al-Nusra’s leadership described the ongoing air strikes against the group’s locations in Syria as “a war against Islam”, vowing to retaliate against the coalition’s member countries, which includes Western as well as Arab countries.

“We are in a long war. This war will not end in months nor years. This war could last for decades,” said Abu Firas al-Suri, spokesman of al-Nusra Front.

Al-Suri said in an audio message: “It’s not a war against al-Nusra Front, but rather a war against Islam.”

“These countries (of the U.S.-led coalition) have done a despicable act that will put them on the list of those targeted by jihadist forces all over the world,” al-Suri said.
