Qamishli, Syria – Forces loyal to Presidents Bashar al-Assad closed on Friday all roads leading to the center of Qamishli city in northeastern Syria, amid a state of alert, leading to obstruct of the transportation movement in the city.

Locals in the city of Qamishli told ARA News that the regime military forces closed roads leading to the central market of the city and its surroundings “for unknown reasons”, alongside with tightening the security cordon by the regime forces, the National Defence Army militia and the Internal Syriac Security Forces ‘Sutoro‘ inside the city.

A pro-Assad security source confirmed to ARA News that the main reason behind closing the roads inside Qamishli was the explosion of a roadside bomb planted by unknown parties inside a bus belonging to the Syrian security forces in al-Wihda Street, “which resulted in the injury of some security members” according to the source.

On the other hand, the Syrian regime military forces shelled on Thursday several locations in the southern countryside of the city of Qamishli with heavy artillery, targeting the headquarters of the  al-Qaeda offshoot militants of the Islamic State (previously known as ‘ISIL’).
