Aleppo, Syria – Rebels of the Islamic Front announced on Thursday the execution of six prisoners in its jails in Aleppo, northern Syria.

“The Security Institution in the Islamic Front carried out a death sentence by firing squad against six detainees who have confessed to the charges directed to them, which included  collaboration with the Syrian regime, theft, murder, beside claiming membership in the Free Syrian Army (FSA),” leadership of the Islamic Front announced in a statement on Thursday.

The bodies of the six detainees were transferred to the headquarters of the Shariah in Aleppo, before being buried.

The Security Institution of the Islamic Front is considered the supreme authority in the city of Aleppo, following the establishment of the Front nearly a year ago.

The Islamic Front is considered the largest rebels body which includes several Syrian revolutionary battalions with moderate Islamic tendencies.

The Front’s Security Institution is staffed by investigators, intelligence apparatus, legal judges and security forces, in addition to the armed brigades and battalions which fight the pro-Assad military forces in Aleppo and other areas of Syria.

Meanwhile, the Legitimate Council of the Islamic Front issued on Thursday what they described as ‘amnesty’ for prisoners and detainees in the city of Aleppo, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr (al-Fitr Feast which follows Ramadan month).

The Front’s amnesty, which was published online, said: “Any prisoners and detainees, who completed three-quarters of their sentence, memorized parts of the Koran, received a certificate of good behaviour in prison, will be included in the amnesty and be freed, starting from Friday, July 25, 2014.”
